Minor Premiers Gordon and second place Sydney Rangers do battle in the McDonald’s Women’s Premier Cricket final at Blacktown International Sports Park on Sunday.
Both sides advanced from the semi final’s after their respective games were called off due to inclement weather.

The match will involve international players as well as domestic players that have attained success with the Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder as well as the NSW Breakers.

Gordon have been the form side of the competition due in large part to the fantastic batting of Captain Hannah Trollip.

Trollip has had a memorable season in both the T20 and one day formats by compiling 765 runs at an average of 54.60. Her season has also included two centuries and five fifties. Adding to this is her 10 wickets that have often come at vital times when Gordon have been searching for a breakthrough.

The inclusion of former Southern Stars international and current Sydney Sixers squad member Lisa Sthalekar is certain to bolster Gordon’s chances as it looks to take out the title.

Only used sparingly during the campaign, Sthalekar’s experience and talented stroke play will be a vital weapon in the armory of the Minor Premier’s attempt to win the match.

The opposition the Sydney Rangers will be no pushover however and have proved throughout the season just what a good cricket team they are.

The inclusions of Southern Stars and Sydney Sixers batter Alyssa Healy as well as fellow Sydney Sixers squad members Lauren Smith, Jodie Hicks and Captain Angela Reakes will ensure that they have enough quality to cause Gordon some troubles.

Middle order batter Naomi McDonald will be one to keep an eye on in this clash due to her recent run of good form.

McDonald has hit 460 runs in all competitions at an average of 57.50 including four half-centuries.

With back to back half-centuries she is one of the form batters in the competition and the Rangers will be relying on a big effort with the bat to get victory for the second-placed outfit.

Last Meeting: Gordon 7-225 (Trollip 51, Sthalekar 35, Bates 2-30) defeated Sydney Rangers 207 (Smith 86, Trollip 3-32, Sthalekar 2-29).
