Sydney Sixers Vs Hobart Hurricanes WBBL Semi Final Preview

The Sydney Sixers WBBL side prepares for a do or die semi final against the 4th placed Hobart Hurricanes on Wednesday at the Gabba as a curtain raiser for the BBL.

The Sixers who finished 1st on the ladder know that a defeat will exit it from the competition and they will no doubt not be taking the Hobart Hurricanes lightly despite a 5-0 record over it in the past two seasons.
The Sixers receive a huge boost with the return from international duty of Proteas pair Marizanne Kapp and Dane Van Niekerk

The girls in Magenta bounced back from a slight dip in form last Saturday with a convincing 35-run win in which there was contributions throughout the team. Despite missing Captain Ellyse Perry, the Sixers outclassed the Melbourne Renegades with both bat and ball to ensure it finished in top spot on the ladder.
With Perry still missing from the lineup for tomorrow’s fixture, the Sixers will again need to rely on a team effort if they want their captain to return in WBBL 02.

Hobart qualified for the semi-finals with a thrilling four-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars. Their win came with just one ball remaining and again proved their resilience after they looked down and out for periods of the match.
The Hurricanes have won two of its past three matches and ended the regular season with seven wins, six defeats and one no result. Their reliance will be on the top of the order and in particular Heather Knight who hit a polished 31 last time out against the Sixers.
Last Meeting: Sydney Sixers 6-134 (Perry 60) defeated Hobart Hurricanes 8-118 (Hall 42, Aley 3-20) by 16 runs.
The Sixers are yet to taste defeat against their Tasmanian opponents. They held on for a 16-run win in the last meeting on the less than two weeks ago at North Sydney Oval.
This time around there will be no Ellyse Perry however, who top scored with 60 for Sydney.
Player To Watch: Sarah Aley has been in a rich vein of form this whole campaign and shows no signs of letting up. She ripped the heart out of the Melbourne Renegades run chase on Saturday with a beautiful three wicket haul. Her movement in the air and off the pitch bamboozled even the best batters that day and if the weather stays humid in Brisbane then she could have a field day.
She has been the most consistent performer with the ball and expect her to lift again in the absence of Perry.
Aley scored 16 not out and collected figures of 3-20 from four overs in the Sixers most recent victory over the Hurricanes a fortnight ago.

The Squad: Alyssa Healy (C), Sarah Aley, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Jodie Hicks, Marizanne Kapp, Carly Leeson, Emily Leys, Sara McGlashan, Angela Reakes, Lauren Smith and Dane Van Niekerk.
