Travel writers stopped at gun point after finding “back gate” to area 51 in bizarre standoff.
The two travel writers were approached “aggressively” by two armed men in camouflaged gear when they traveled too close to the infamous area 51 base, located 134 km North West of Las Vegas.
The two men, father and son pair Joe and Garrett McCullough own the YouTube channel MacADVentures and published the encounter which has now had over 2.5 million views.
The video shows the men riding past a sign which says “deadly force” is authorised to stop trespassers and shortly after this the men are approached by two armed males.
The men pull out guns and say to the McCullough’s that they’ll give them the chance to “get out” or be faced with a $700 fine and a visit by the local Lincoln County Police.
The two bikers get away and say “that is the most gnarly thing I’ve ever seen”.
However many viewers have said the video is fake and an attempt by the pair to boost their online profile with a staged confrontation. YouTube user Beauden Barrett said “if this video wasn’t faked it would have been taken down by now, LMAO” whilst Cole Phelps quoted “Such a genuine reaction! 100% NOT fake guys! Wow!!!”.
The McCullough’s who are travel bloggers and write under the title MacADVentures have assured viewers that the video is authentic and not fake. “This is raw and shot in real time. Not fake or PHONY! We bring you the extreme footage shot by us. I don’t know how long it will be up until the Gov’t makes us take it down!”
On their YouTube channel there are a host of videos relating to Area 51 and the pair’s adventures at the abandoned area.
Area 51 has become a source of secrecy by the American Government for a long time.
It is widely regarded by conspiracy theorists in the US as the centre for research on aliens and UFO’s. Although this has never been proven, there are countless examples of people being stopped by armed guards when approaching the vicinity of Area 51.
It was previously one of the American Government’s worst kept secrets until it was officially acknowledged by the CIA in 2013 and it’s exact location was revealed.
In June of 2015, head of NASA Major Charles Bolden told school children that he was “confident that scientists would find life outside of Earth because there were so many planets that are similar to our own.”
Later on Major Bolden spoke about Area 51 but said it was a lot different to what people think. “There is an Area 51,” he said. “It’s not what many people think. I’ve been to a place called that but it’s a normal research and development place. I never saw any aliens or alien spacecraft or anything when I was there.
Do you believe in another existence apart from ours? Was the McCullough’s video a hoax?
